Health Events Explained

The Health Events feature in PeopleSafe is designed to help Organisations record the events that happen that are related to the risks covered in their Safety Plans.
By recording Health Events in PeopleSafe, the organsiation has one place to keep track of information, and  to better manage potential next actions that are required in response to a health event.

The idea is that you can then look at the Risks you are trying to keep people safe from and to see any impact that the risk is having on peoples' health.
By using the nifty EVENT LOG you can see all the records for a particular Health Event, and know about the people that have had health events.

Overview

A Health Event happens when a risk becomes reality.
Often a single risk has the potential for multiple different Health Events.
For example
The Risk = Catching or spreading Covid 19
The possible Health Events Types for the Risk Catching or spreading Covid 19 might include:
  • Exposure Alert Via Covid Tracer App
  • Called in Sick with Covid Symptoms
  • Notified of need to Self Isolate
  • Tested for Covid-19
  • Day 5 Covid Test
  • Day 12 Covid Test
You'll see that they all relate back to a SINGLE risk, the Risk that someone catches or spreads Covid 19.

Using Health Events you will be able to have a much clearer picture of the Health Events that are happening around your big risks.
It's likely that some Health Events may result in more testing which may lead to further Health Events that you need to keep track of. Covid 19 is a useful example of where multiple lots of test are currently required after an exposure event.  The Health Events feature makes it easy to keep track of how many people you have at each stage, and keep the details of testing requirements.

QUICK TIPS
  • In general Health Events are unplanned Events that track things that have happened, normally you were trying to prevent them.
  • For planned events like Annual Lung function tests we recommend you use the Jobs Requirements under Training and Skills to track this.
If however a staff member then received a "Reduced Lung Function" result which is not something we would expect, then we would suggest that you would add that as a Health Event.

Begin by adding your Health Event Types in Settings. Remember they must relate to risks that are being managed by your Safety Plans

Once added they become available for selection when you record a new Health Event.
