Reset a User's Password

Staff may need assistance with resetting their passwords if they can't do it themselves. There are a couple of ways to do this; by generating a Password PDF or emailing a Password Reset to the user.

To reset a staff member's password, you'll need:

  • Security Clearance of a PeopleSafe Coordinator 
  • To email a password reset, the user must have an email address in their Best Contact Email in their profile 

1. Generate a Password PDF

Step One 

  1. Login to PeopleSafe, you'll be taken to the Home Dashboard.
  2. Click the People Tab on the top menu, the People screen will open.

  3. Click on the Staff box, and you'll see a list of all staff.

  4. Scroll through to find the person who's details you want to update or use the search bar.
  5. Click on View and their profile will open.
  6. Click on the Options button to the right, a drop-down list will appear.
  7. Click Edit, and the Profile will change to edit mode. 

Step Two

  1. Scroll to the Login Details area. 
  2. Click Reset Password and Generate PDF, a pop-up will appear asking if you are sure.
  3. Click OK.
  4. It will then create a PDF which is automatically downloaded to your computer.
  5. The PDF should appear in your Downloaded file and a link to this is usually displayed along the bottom left of your screen.
  6. Print off the PDF for the user.  They will need to login using the temporary password and create a new one.


2. Email a Password Reset to the User 

Step One 

  1. Login to PeopleSafe, you'll be taken to the Home Dashboard.
  2. Click the People Tab on the top menu, the People screen will open.

  3. Click on the Staff box, and you will see a list of all staff.
  4. Scroll through to find the person who's password you want to reset or use the search bar.

  5. Click on View and their profile will open.

  6. Click on the Options button to the right, a drop-down list will appear.
  7. Click Edit, and the Profile will change to edit mode.

Step Two

  1. Scroll to the Login Details area.
  2. Select Yes to Email the user a password- reset token.
  3. The success screen will appear.
  4. The User must use the link within 24 hours of the email being sent.
