How Security Clearances Work
A User is allocated a security clearance when their User profile is first created or when they are connected to a new organisation. The type of clearance determines how much a person can see of the organisation they are connected to, ie their access or permission. There are three types of clearance for staff ( people on your direct payroll list), Standard Staff, Manage User and PeopleSafe Coordinator. If someone is connected to your organisation as a friend, (they are not a staff member but need access to your site), there are three types of clearance: Standard Friend, Auditor and Advisor.
This article sets out all the actions a staff User can do in PeopleSafe along with the level of security clearance needed to do those actions. See related article on how Friends Security Clearances work.
1. Standard Staff
Standard Staff is the most common security clearance in PeopleSafe. When someone with a Standard Staff security clearance logs in they will only see their own personal details and training information.
2. Manage Users
Manage Users is for anyone who is responsible for people in the organisation. You might call them Supervisors, Team Leaders, Managers or something similar. Someone with a Manage Users security clearance can see all their own details and also the details of the staff they're responsible for.
3. Coordinator
Coordinator security clearance is for the select few who oversee making PeopleSafe work for their organisation. Coordinators are responsible for keeping an eye on everything happening, setting up all the behind-the-scenes stuff, and making sure everybody can get in and actually use PeopleSafe. There can be anywhere from one to five Coordinators for one organisation depending on the size of the site and number of staff to manage. The people who are Coordinators in PeopleSafe are normally the Owner/Operators, Health and Safety Coordinators, Administrators, 2IC and the like.
